Valleys of Thornhill is one of several new developments in Vaughan being built in the area between Dufferin and Bathurst Streets, running north from Rutherford Road to Major Mackenzie Drive. There is an excellent transit network provided by major arteries such as Dufferin and Bathurst, along with the 400, 407 and 404 highways. There is also convenient GO Train service at the Rutherford Station near Dufferin.
Valleys of Thornhill is anchored by Thomas Cook Avenue and Marc Santi Boulevard, and there are several major builders represented there, including Fernbrook, Minto, H&R, Madison, Forest Hill Homes and Century Grove. Styles of homes range from townhouses to detached, and there are also many luxury models being built with square footage reaching 4000-5000 sq. ft.
Currently scheduled to open for September, 2011 is Nellie McClung Public School, located at Thomas Cook and Chaiwood Court, which will service the immediate neighbourhood. Elementary students are now attending Ross Doan Elementary school and Roselawn Public School, located on Weldrick Road W. and Carville Rd respectively. There are currently two nearby high schools, Stephen Lewis Secondary School and Langstaff Secondary School. There are several Catholic elementary schools and two Catholic high schools, St Charles Garnier and Saint Joan of Arc, within the surrounding area. 
There is a strong Jewish presence in the area, anchored by the Joseph and Wolf Lebovic Community Campus, located at 9600 Bathurst Street, north of Rutherford. Opened in 2007 with the TanenbaumCHAT Kimel Family Education Centre and secondary school, it will also house the Schwartz/Reisman Centre, which will include a fitness centre, a school facility for daycare and preschool, a community arts centre and a family resource centre. It is scheduled for completion in 2012. Many of the currently established Jewish congregations, supplementary Jewish schools, and services plan to expand onto the Lebovic Community Campus. Ner Israel Yeshiva is a Jewish college with degree programs in religious and Jewish studies.
There are several private schools in the area, including the Toronto Waldorf School, Royal Crest Academy, North Hill Private School, Rutherford Private School and Daycare, Lumen Veritatis, and Discovery Academy. There are also many music and art schools, as well as daycare facilities.
The York Central Hospital in Richmond Hill provides medical service, as well as the North York General Hospital in Toronto. There is a new medical building at the corner of Major Mackenzie and Ilan Ramon Drive.
The neighbourhood of Valleys of Thornhill is conveniently located only a few minutes away from several of Vaughan’s most popular destinations, including Promenade Mall, Vaughan Mills Shopping Centre, Canada’s Wonderland, and the Kortright Centre and Boyd Conservation Area, both of which feature not only lovely hiking and picnicking facilities, but environmental workshops popular as student field trips. There are many grocery stores and delis in the area, including Sobey’s and Longo’s on Bathurst Street.
